In over 25,000 years since the exploitation of hyperdrive technology, the basic attributes of star flight have remained constant.

Few now presume to question the quintillions of engineering pioneers active in the Early Hyperspace Age. Artistic expression and raw practically have long been the sole ideas of vehicle design. However, as political deadlock and disfunction permeate the Galaxy, peculiar mechanical forms are now beginning to emerge.

Planets

Here you can find some of the various planets within the Star Wars galaxy as well as some of the vehicles that reside within them.

Tatooine

A harsh desert world orbiting twin suns in the galaxy’s Outer Rim, Tatooine is a lawless place ruled by Hutt gangsters. Many settlers scratch out a living on moisture farms, while spaceport cities such as Mos Eisley and Mos Espa serve as home base for smugglers, criminals, and other rogues. Tatooine’s many dangers include sandstorms, bands of savage Tusken Raiders, and carnivorous krayt dragons. The planet is also known for its dangerous Podraces, rampant gambling, and legalized slavery. Anakin Skywalker and Luke Skywalker both grew up on Tatooine, and Obi-Wan Kenobi spent years in hiding on this desolate world.

Luke Skywalker's Landspeeder

Durable if not stylish, the X-34 featured holographic displays, a computer for ground navigation, and a number of repulsor counterbalances for smooth and steady travel over rough terrain. Its maximum altitude was 1 meter (100 cm), but its usual cruising altitude was roughly 10 cm above ground level. It utilized three turbine engines to propel the vehicle forward. It’s repulsor field generator housing was located behind the cockpit. Its power circuit was located in front of the cockpit.

Podracers

One man vehicles featuring a cockpit placed behind two huge engines. Podracers are used across the galaxy in deadly Podraces.

Sandcrawlers

Sandcrawlers are huge treaded fortresses used by Jawas as transportation and shelter. The sand pitted vehicles, many meters in height, are equipped with a magnetic suction tube for sucking droids and scrap into their cargo chambers.

Bantha

Banthas are large, furry mammals that travel in herds through Tatooine's desert wastes. They serve as mounts for Tusken Raiders, and the two species share a close, almost mystical bond.

Dewback

Rugged reptiles with thick hides, dewbacks are plodding but reliable mounts. When prodded by their riders, they are capable of brief bursts of surprising speed

Ronto

Gentle and strong, rontos are favored pack animals for Tatooine's Jawas. Travelers to the desert planet's settlements routinely see rontos swaying under the weight of their cargoes and Jawa passengers.

Swoop Bike

Of all people on desolate Tatooine, the implacable moisture farmers have the most pragmatic appreciation of vehicular technology, on which they depend for daily survival. Young Owen Lars epitomises this principle, as he patrols the family property on his fast sand beaten swoop bike. Though not especially reliable, this farming vehicle is used more heavily than the homesteads dozen other semi-restored craft because it is fuel efficient and easy to repair using Jawa supplied parts. Owen bought his high powered swoop from a Revwien merchant at an auction in remote Mos Nytram. Originally a racing vehicle, he immediately saw its durable practical use. Townsfolk might scoff at the sight of a onetime sports vehicle hauling water trailers or vermin traps but as far as Owen is concerned, utility is the true essence of grace.

Naboo

An idyllic world close to the border of the Outer Rim Territories, Naboo is inhabited by peaceful humans known as the Naboo, and an indigenous species of intelligent amphibians called the Gungans. Naboo's surface consists of swampy lakes, rolling plains and green hills. Its population centers are beautiful -- Naboo's river cities are filled with classical architecture and greenery, while the underwater Gungan settlements are a beautiful display of exotic hydrostatic bubble technology.

Flashspeeder

The Flash speeder is a sleek, lightweight repulsorlift vehicle used by Naboo’s volunteer security force for patrolling the tranquil streets of their peaceful cities. The open air canopy seats two soldiers. Turret mounted on the rear spoiler is a blaster cannon. During the Trade Federation invasion of Naboo, the resistance groups organized by Captain Panaka and Queen Amidala employed Flash and Gian speeders to infiltrate the besieged city of Theed.

Gian Speeder

The Gian speeder is a repulsorlift vehicle used by Naboo’s volunteer security force for crowd control and urban defense. Ir is a heavier design than the sleek Flash speeder. The open air canopy seats four soldiers. Flanking the sides of the craft are standard laser cannons. Modified models come equipped with a hoodmounted laser cannon capable of penetrating the armor of a Trade Federation battle tank.

Kaadu

The Kaadu is a type of flightless reptavian native to the lush world of Naboo. They come in various shades of yellow and orange. Due to the natural terrain of Naboo, these creatures have a natural ability to survive both in the watery swamps and rich grasslands found throughout Naboo.

Bongo Submarine

Though the Gungans are naturally powerful swimmers, they do rely on submersible vehicles to travel the depths of Naboo’s waters. One of their most striking technological achievements is the Gungan bongo submarine. Sporting the distinctive organic lines of Gungan technology, the bongo’s manta shaped hull is organically grown through secret Gungan techniques. Hydrostatic bubble shields keep the cockpit and cargo areas dry and filled with air. A semi rigid assembly of tentacle like fins spins to provide the bongo with thrust. From a distance, the bongo resembles an exotic Naboo squid or similar creature of the deep.

Hoth

Hoth is the sixth planet in the remote system of the same name and was the site of the rebel alliance’s echo base. It would s a world of snow and ice, surrounded by numerous moons and home to deadly creatures like the Wampa.

Snowspeeders

When stationed on Hoth, the rebel alliance modified T-47 air speeders to become snowspeeders, fast flying conveyances for patrol and defence of their hidden base. It took some doing to keep the crippling cold from permanently grounding their airforce, but rebel ingenuity overcame the relentless Hoth elements. The T-47 air speeder is a small, wedge shaped craft with two forward facing laser cannons. In its rear arc is a harpoon gun fitted with a heavy duty tow cable. The snowspeeder is a two man vessel, with a pilot and rear facing tail gunner.

Tauntans

Tauntans are a species of snow lizard found roaming the windswept snow plains of Hoth. The rebel alliance domesticated the swift creature during their stay on the ice planet, and used the animals for patrol duties outside of the echo base. The animals came in useful as the rebel technicians had trouble adapting their repulsorlift speeders to the sub-zero temperature, the chilling extremes of a Hoth night will prove deadly.

AT-AT Walker

The all terrain armoured transport, or AT-AT walker, is a four legged transport and combat vehicle used by the imperial ground forces. Standing over 20 metres tall with blast impervious armour plating, these massive constructs are used as much for psychological effect as they are for tactical advantage.

Coruscant

A city-covered planet, Coruscant is the vibrant heart of the Galaxy, featuring a diverse mix of citizens and culture. It features towering skyscrapers, streams of speeder filled air traffic and inner levels that stretch far below the world’s surface. Coruscant was the seat of government for the galactic Republic and the empire that followed and was the site of numerous historic events during the clone wars. It also housed the Jedi temple and archives, which hosted Jedi training and learning for over a thousand generations -- traditions that ended when the planet bore witness to order 66.

Zam's airspeeder

Hired assassin, Zam Wesell flies an airspeeder that is unusual and exotic as she is herself. The totally self enclosed craft has no external thrusters and few air intakes because it was built for use on hostile, primitive worlds. Its repulsorlift units provide anti gravity support, while other mechanisms generate radiation and magnetic fields that move the craft by dragging up on the air. This system is versatile enough for use in a huge variety of atmospheres. However, in urban areas, outdoor power lines can snag the propulsion fields and confound the steering - although this merely provides an extra means of traction to a cunning mercenary like Wesell.

Coruscant Air Taxi

Transportation on one of the most populated planets of the Galaxy has moved high into the air, weaving between the towering buildings that envelope the world of Coruscant. A great many of these vehicles are Coruscant air taxis, small open air speeders that carry passengers th their destination.

AA-9 freighter

AA-9 freighters were built at the Botajef shipyards. They employed type Dyne-2577 Sublight drives. As a result of the dislocation of populations by the separatist crisis, the refugee relief movement converted a number of these freighters into makeshift passenger transports, with the middle deck modified to carry 30,000 people.

Coruscant Civilan Transport

Coruscant civilian transports were small freighters used by the citizens of Coruscant to get to other areas of the city, or another part of the planet. They could each hold a fair amount of people and were usually piloted by only one or two pilots. They were outfitted with light armour plating, to protect from heavy damage in the event of a crash.

Anakin's Airspeeder

After an attempt is made on the life of the senator of Naboo and his Jedi master is whisked off into the night air, Anakin skywalker needs transport fast. With flawless intuition he finds the perfect pursuit vehicle in the nearby senatorial parking zone. This overpowered, prized leisure craft, which belongs to a self-indulgent politician, is as quick and agile as any civilian airspeeder or cloud car in coruscant's sky. Its complex and responsive system of repulsor units, thrust-ducting, and unconventional Podracer-like engine arrangement provide one of the galaxy's best starpilots with the balance of superior control and instant familiarity essential for his daredevil pursuit of Zam Wesell.

Endor

Secluded in a remote corner of the Galaxy, the forest moon of Endor would easily have been overlooked by history were it not for the decisive battle that occurred there. The lush forest home of the Ewok species is the grave sight of dart header and the empire itself. It was here that the rebel alliance won its most crucial victory over the galactic empire

AT-ST Walker

While not as imposing as its larger AT-AT Walker cousin, the AT-ST nonetheless served as a significant addition to the imperial side of battlefields of the galactic civil war. The two man craft is lightly armed with chin mounted laser cannons and side mounted weapon pods. The two legged transport, dubbed the scout walker by many, serves as a reconnaissance and patrol vehicle, often flanking approaching AT-AT's and mopping up infantry that sneaks past the larger walkers.

Speeder Bikes

Commonly used throughout the Galaxy, speeder bikes are single-driver craft that travel at very high speeds. They vary in make, model and purpose; the Empire used speeder bikes for military purposes on Lothal and Endor, while civilians use speeder bikes for everyday travel. Regardless, they require skill and fast reflexes.

Kashyyyk

Kashyyyk is the woodie home world, covered in dense forest. While wookies build their homes in the planets trees, they are not a primitive species and Kashyyyk architecture incorporates sophisticated technology. One of the last battles of the clone wars was fought here under the leadership of Yoda, with wookies and clones battling the separatist droid army -- until the emperor issued order 66, commanding the clones to slaughter all Jedi. Yoda survived, however, with the help of natives chewbacca and Tarfful, who used a hidden shuttle to evacuate the Jedi master from the planet.

Oevvaor Jet Catamaran

The catamaran was named for the oevvaor, a predatory marine reptile that prowled the coasts of Kashyyyk. The hulls of the craft were very tough, as they were handcrafted from the wood of wroshyr trees. The craft was also extremely quick and agile. They were powered by a compact twin repulsorlift, that provided lift for atmospheric flight, while also helping to decrease the overall mass of the catamaran, and a pair of podracer-style engines provided the forward thrust. Finally, a pair of rudders located at the end of each hull provided steering in both the air and the water.

Wookiee Hummbike

The HummBike was a model of speeder bike that was manufactured by the Wookiees of Kashyyyk, who employed the vehicles as scouting units prior to and during the Clone Wars and then the Galactic Civil War. Since Wookiees, due to their large size and bulk could not comfortably ride most models of speeder bike designed for other species of humanoids, they developed their own, more comfortably proportioned vehicles to suit the needs of motorized infantry scouts. It was different from other speeder bikes in that the rider was seated in a reclined pilot's chair that was offset from the fuselage of the speeder bike. The bike's throttle was controlled by a lever to the rider's left, and directional controls and weapons were operated by the rider's right hand. The HummBike was armed with a weak, slow-firing blaster mounted on the forward maneuvering vane as a last-ditch defense. However, like all speeder bikes, the HummBike's almost nonexistent armor and weak weaponry made it ineffective in sustained combat. The bike's speed and maneuverability allowed riders to easily evade enemies, however, and this was typically the first course of action taken by riders.

Kas Tank

The Kas tank was a repulsorcraft tank model employed by the Wookiees. It had a crew of two, a pilot in the front cockpit and a gunner in the rear cockpit. It was armed with a heavy laser cannon mounted outside the cockpit, and was effective against enemy armor. The Kas tank also had room for transporting more troopers.

Dragonfly Speeder

The Dragonfly was a class of speeder bike developed by the Wookiees of Kashyyyk during the final decades of the Old Republic. Each of these bikes was constructed in a unique hand-crafting process by individual Wookiee's in a manner similar to Mon Calamari starships. The propulsion system took the form of a top-propeller that gave the Dragonfly lift and speed.

Advanced AGR

The Advanced AGR was a model of Wookiee starfighter named after an animal indigenous to Kashyyyk. It was designed and optimized for atmospheric flight, but could also engage in dogfights in space, with greatly enhanced maneuverability. It was the successor of the Fast AGR.

Wookiee Cruiser

Cruisers were aquatic siege weapons armed with one laser cannon used by the Wookiees on Kashyyyk. Heavy Cruisers were upgraded versions with heavier armor and two laser cannons. Shortly after the Battle of Endor, the resistance fighter Shoran ordered four Heavy Cruisers belonging to his personal army in Tunnatutikan to go up a river on a scouting mission. He lost contact with them after they were captured by Trandoshan slavers. The New Republic members Han Solo and Chewbacca ventured to Kashyyyk to assist in its liberation and joined with Shoran to destroy three Imperial jammers.

Intergalactic Vehicles

Jedi Starfighter

When Obi Wan Kenobi departs on his quest to Kamino, he requisitions one of the Jedi Temple's modified Delta-7 Aethersprite light interceptors. This Ultra-light fighter is well shielded against impacts and blasts, and is equipped with two dual laser cannons that can unleash a withering frontal assault. It's sleek, blade like form simplifies shield distribution and affords excellent visibility, especially in forward and lateral directions. A fighter of this size cannot normally travel far into deep space on its own but the customised Jedi version features a socket for a truncated droid navigator and can dock with an external hyperdrive ring. It's design assumes dominance over any foe-essential for a prescient Jedi or any steely nerves pilot trained for frontal assaults.

Republic Assault Ship

The arrival of massif Acclamator-class troopships above Geonisis is a pivotal moment in galactic military history. The Separatists, working with nefarious comport organisations, are stunned not only by the decisiveness of the hitherto stagnant Republic but moreover by its use of a trained and well-equipped clone army - the first time the Republic has deployed an army since its inception. At the battle's turning point the troopships land to disgorge swarms of armed transport gunships under the cover of turbo laser fire. The ships are accompanied by heavy ground vehicles and thousands of well-trained, dedicated Clone troops.

Republic Gun Ship

The Galactic Republic's LAAT/i (Low Altitude Assault Transport/infantry) aerial gunships play a vital role in the battle on Geonosis. These tactical transport craft and their variants can cross impassibly rough terrain to swiftly and safely disgorge an entire platoon of clone troopers or haul a slot armoured vehicle into position. Enemy fighters must either remain at high altitudes or surrender their speed advantage when pursuing gunships below the mountain level. A military transport ship's entire gunship complement can deliver mor than 2000 soldiers in each of several repeated waves. However, these flying troop carriers are versatile gun platforms in their own right too. They are lighter and faster than mobile artillery and most ground vehicles, yet still carry a considerable arsenal. Massive twin missile launchers allow concerted over-the-horizon strikes on slow or fixed targets such as enemy artillery and fortifications, in support of the advancing ground forces. Two pairs of widely rotating blaster cannons defend the gunship with bolts of deadly precision. Finally, three chin and tail mounted laser cannons swivel and depress to devastate enemy infantry and other light ground assets. These guns are vital for clearing a path to deploy troops and vehicles - the fundamental function at which the LAAT-series gunship excel.

Tantive IV

Both Bail Organa and his adopted daughter Leia used this Alderaan cruiser on public missions for the Galactic Senate and secret ones for the Rebel Alliance. Leia became famous for mercy missions undertaken aboard the Tantive IV, but the Empire suspected her altruistic acts were cover for treasonous activities. After the Tantive IV intercepted rebel transmissions of the Death Star plans, Darth Vader pursued the ship, capturing the cruiser above Tatooine after a brief space battle.

X-wing Starfighter

The X-wing is a versatile Rebel Alliance starfighter that balances speed with firepower. Armed with four laser cannons and two proton torpedo launchers, the X-wing can take on anything the Empire throws at it. Nimble engines give the X-wing an edge during dogfights, and it can make long-range jumps with its hyperdrive and its astromech droid co-pilot. Luke Skywalker is famous for destroying the Death Star behind the controls of an X-wing.

Millenium Falcon

A legendary starship despite its humble origins and deceptively shabby exterior, the Millennium Falcon has played a role in some of the Rebel Alliance's greatest victories over the Empire. On the surface, the Falcon looks like a worn down junker. Beneath its hull, however, she packs many powerful secrets. Its owners have made "special modifications" on the freighter throughout the years, boosting its speed, shielding, and performance to impressive -- and downright illegal -- levels. The Falcon pays a heavy price for these tricks and add-ons. It can be unpredictable, and its reconditioned hyperdrive often fails. Its current captain, Han Solo, has even been seen to restart a failed start-up with a hard knock on a bulkhead with his fist.

Trade Federation Core Ship

With its fleet of fighter battleships, the Trade Federation is well equipped to be one of the powerful merchant fa toons behind the advent of the Clone Wars. The heart and brain of each battleship is a detachable Core Ship, which comprises a massive, central computer and multiple power systems, the huge ships are ser iced in special landing pits on planets affiliated to the Trade Federation, while the delicate cargo arms and engine blocks remain in orbital. The Core Ships' Ion-drive nozzles provide basic steering and slow acceleration, allowing them to do km in powerful, anti-gravity repulsorlift cushions with eight landing legs for stability. Scores of these ships are grounded on Geonosis, where they are being upgraded for coordination with the newly enhanced Baktoid droid armies. During the battle on Geonosis, the Core Ships are ringed wig land and air defence Es, allowing a good number to regret safely to the skies.

Geonosian Fighter

During the climactic battle with the Republic, the Geonosian Faction launches thousands of standby fighters to break the Republic's orbital cordon blocking Corporate Alliance ground reinforcement. These fighter-craft combine high linear acceleration with phenomenal manoeuvrability as a result of the frictionless rotating mount of their thrusters. Despite their superior agility, few fighters are exported, since Geonosian senses and articulation differ from the galaxy's majority humanoid population. Furthermore, Geonosian policy has become fervently isolationist sad the Republic stagnates and their wary Archduke, Poggle the Lesser, believes the hoarding of technical advantages is insurance of power and security.

Solar Sailer

A gift from his Geonosian colleagues, Dooku's ship is a unique melding of a Punworcca 116-class sloop with a elegant sail supplied by the Count himself. On Dooku's instructions, Geonosian engineers attached this enigmatic accessory to the ship to provide independent power without the need to carry fuel (apart from guide thrusters). The ship's interior is tailored to Dooku's sense of refinement, with an extensive data book library and ornate decorations. When the tide of battle turns, the Count flees to his escape vessel and slips away.

TIE Fighter

The TIE fighter was the unforgettable symbol of the Imperial fleet. Carried aboard Star Destroyers and battle stations, TIE fighters were single-pilot vehicles designed for fast-paced dogfights with Rebel X-wings and other starfighters. The iconic TIE fighter led to other models in the TIE family including the dagger-shaped TIE Interceptor and the explosive-laden TIE bomber. The terrifying roar of a TIE's engines would strike fear into the hearts of all enemies of the Empire.

Imperial Star Destroyer

The wedge-shaped Imperial Star Destroyer is a capital ship bristling with weapons emplacements. Turbolasers and tractor beam projectors dot its surface. Its belly hangar bay can launch TIE fighters, boarding craft, land assault units, hyperspace probes, or be used to hold captured craft. In the days of the Empire, its bustling bridge would be staffed by the finest crewers in the Imperial starfleet. Its presence in a system mark matters of extreme Imperial import. Though, as is typical of the Empire, not even the Star Destroyer was enough to sate the Imperial hunger for displays of power. Larger vessels, such as the Super Star Destroyer, dwarf even these giants.

Imperial Shuttle

An elegant example that stands apart from typical brutish Imperial engineering, the Lambda-class shuttle is a multi-purpose transport used in the Imperial starfleet. The Empire pressed the shuttle into service for both cargo ferrying and passenger duty. Even the Empire's elite, like Darth Vader and the Emperor Palpatine used these shuttles. It has three wings: a stationary center foil and two articulated flanking wings. When in flight, the side wings fold out for greater stabilization. When landing, the wings fold in, shrinking the vessel's silhouette. The well-armed vessel has two forward-facing double laser cannons, two wing-mounted double cannons, and a rear-facing double laser cannon. It is equipped with a hyperdrive.
